Actually, in fairness to Mr Phelan, that caught me out too. I thought the 
person was working in New Brighton and using pier in a trendy internet way 
(sorry). I didn't feel the need to reply until now though.

If someone sets up some space on second life, you could call it New New 
Brighton Pier or something.
