[BNM] Virgin Media Broadband issues? - Update

As you know, I've been experiencing a really slow connection over the
past 5 days or so with Virgin Media's broadband. Well, I finally
decided to bite the bullet and call their (25p per min premium rate!)
Indian broadband support number!! After checking I had my machine
plugged in and had rebooted the router, they directed me to another
speedtest website to check my connection speed...
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/
...where miraculously I instantly get my full 3-4MB download rate!!
Now this makes me suspicious - since I've run speedtest's numerous
times, daily over the past week and not once got anywhere near that
speed! Now admittedly I hadn't used that particular website, but a
quick test on www.speedtest.net gain yielded similar results!
So, I ask the guy why that might of happened, and apart from briefly
trying to explain 'bandwidth shaping' to me. I get told to call back
again when my connection speed is slow!! Arrrgghh!!!
Is it just me or does anyone else think that's suspicious!!??
