Subject: [BNM] Sensible Terms and Conditions
Hi
I've taken on the job of putting together a new set of legal Terms and
Conditions for our website. The existing set seemed to prohibit
everything (a strict reading of them would seem to suggest that even
downloading a page into your browser is forbidden!).
Does anyone have any examples of sensible T&C pages that are written by
a lawyer who actually understands the internet (and is au fait with the
concept that other sites quoting from and linking to the site is
actually good for business)?
I particularly need to cover ecommerce (globally), and also want to make
sure that it's clear that we own the copyright for all the content on
our site. I want to emphasise freedom (e.g. 'fair use' etc) and
encourage people to quote (and attribute the quote to us) rather than
the all-forbidding T&C I've seen elsewhere.
(NB for various reasons I can't go for a Creative Commons licence).
Cheers
Paul
