I'm not sure of the kind of company they are but I would also assume that they might be a bit crap with computers/projectors or possibly out to trick/test him.

I'd also go along with a backup set of acetate slides or large A3 paper etc.

There was one bloke I knew who often said "oh sorry the projector's broken" to see if they were prepared. It was for an IT training job.

If he doesn't use the slides make a point of mentioning them in a way that sounds like he came prepared just in case.
