Hello,
This is me (jason bailey) from my yahoo address; partly to see if this works better (we'll see when I reply to something) and partly to ask a question.
My wife is after a new digital camera. Just a point-and-shoot one. I think her normal SLR will go digital in a few years when we can afford it.
We found the fuji fine pix f31(6meg).... something was roughly what we'd go for and ended up looking at the FinePix F40d (8 meg) and also the finefix a800/a820
The major difference (between the Fs and As) seems to be the face detection technology (and the cost). I had a quick read up on it and it looks to improve exposure etc where face shots are being taken. Has anyone used this? and had photos developed? Is this something worth paying the extra for?
I'd rather pay a bit less and go for the a800/820s but am wondering if this extra technology is going to make any difference. We will be taking baby photos etc so clearly this has struck a chord with my wife but I'm not totally convinced.
I think it's possible to search flickr photos by camera; so will see if there's any obvious things I can spot there. But I think the printed photos are more important than online stuff.
So I'm just asking if anyone's used this face technology and does it seem to improve printed photos? Does it, for example, rely somehow on developers knowing about it?
Thanks
Jason
