I think you have to call Virgin Mobile if you want to change the
number of rings before voicemail kicks in. I can't find the option on
my S.E. w810i which is similar to yours.

Not directly related, but I heard they started doing the same thing on
Virgin Media landlines. Kicking in to their equivalent of 1571 after
just 3 rings, making it more expensive for the person calling you.
