[BNM] Excel->CSV->Mysql (umlauts and stuff)

Hello,

I've been given some data in Excel format which includes umlauts (ü) and
other foreign (mostly German I think) characters. I've exported the Excel
to CSV (with quotes around fields etc) and I've been asked to import this
into mysql. The CSV seems to contain the umlauts etc but the import into
mysql seems to lose them.

Can anyone help me? I'm using phpmyadmin and I'm wondering if this is
problem is in the use of phpmyadmin. Actually just noticed the character
set is set to utf8.
Should I alter this and if so what to?

I'm not really very good with the internationalisation side of things.

Thanks
Jason
