[BNM] CSS/IE6 background-color

Going mental here trying to fix an IE6 CSS issue. (actually IE5+) 

When might the first instance of a class not obey it's background-color? I say first instance because every other instance does. I have tried forcing it with inline styling still to no avail. Works fine in FF1.5 and in IE7. Is this something anyone knows about?
