Thank you everybody for your responses.
I had the general feeling it wasn't a good idea - just good to have some
backup. I think the way forward is to send the people a link to the flash
content on a website.

Yeah - don't even bother.
I'd suggest something like "yada-yada Company X has sent you a Christmas
card, click this link to see it" but obviously much more appropriately
worded.

as far as I know - there is no way to do this - how many email clients
support flash ?
