You've kinda got the wrong end of the stick there, there is no doubt the
Windows HCL is much longer, the difference is, you can take a digital
camera or DV cam & plug it in on a mac & the relevant iLife app will pop
up & let you start messing with your content, now, with windows there
aren't that many brand new devices that work straight out of the box.
