If it is in any way commercial then you're not going to get much support. We
looked into using Googlemaps a while back for a client and the licence was
still strictly only for non-commercial applications. You're also not allowed
to use the app in 'members-only' areas or any page which is not publicly
accessible.   

It's going to be quite interesting if they clamp down on that at some point
(when they introduce the commercial licence fee presumably) - seems everyone
is using it at the moment for their web development. 

But considering most uses for https are commercial or secure areas - I can't
imagine they will spend time on an https version until the commercial
licence comes out.

With your charity clients you may get free commercial licencing but that
doesn't help you much now :(
