[BNM] [OT] DVD RAM

(I should of course have made it clear that I mean this for DVD players, not
'puters.) I guess I'm just being tight, but DVD-RAM machines are >£100
cheaper than HDD ones, and all I really want to do is pause telly for crying
baby attendance/empty glasses/full bladders, so I'm thinking that one
DVD-RAM will do me.

And by the way, what does 'HTH' actually mean?! God, I'm getting old.... You
crazy kids with your street talk!

DVD-RAM is a good, reliable rewritable format (well the caddy makes it feel
tough), but the media is relatively expensive and the writing a little on
the slow side.

In answer to your question about why you'd want a hard disk over DVD-RAM,
the HDD would be faster, have a higher capacity and a much lower cost per
GB.

HTH.

James.

Has anyone got any experiences of DVD-RAM? Is it fast? Why would anyone has
an HDD if DVD-RAM is so good?
