+1 James,
not a fanatic myself but.......
it is one of those rare things that humans across the globe can enjoy together
what other activity/endeavour can/does bring the whole world together every 4 years in celebration of a common language?
nations really get a feel for each other through the way they play and support football in a way that nothing else does.
I gave up supporting club football with my teens but I am spiritually lifted by the world cup, and that's even though my home nation, Scotland, seems to have had their day....
peace
Ali

>Hey I don't like football either, I hate it with a passion,
each to their own, but, i do feel like sticking up for footie when it's
hated
don't get me wrong i really have no interest in football whatsoever but i
don't think it deserves to be hated
i'm pleased for the people who really get off on it, they really are quite
mental about it, that's a nice thing to have, to know that there is
somewhere to go, something to watch for a couple of hours, and some group of
people to support, that's all very positive human stuff ... and yes i know
there's thugs and idiots and spoilt strikers but there's also lots of normal
people enjoying a passion and talented, commited athletes etc
my brother has always been passionate about football and i've only ever seen
it bring him joy
can't be so bad surely? offside rule or otherwise
