Can we have a new prefix for emails? [FB] to go with [OT] so I can
filter out all the football BS.

*pedantry alert*

You can be offside from a goal kick....otherwise strikers woud just goal
hang and the game would tunr in to tennis with the keepers hoofing it up
the
pitch and the defender all standing on the line.

>>> but rather a goal kick or corner)

a corner?

Surely it would be an own goal - as the player is no longer active if an
opposition player puts the ball across the line?

It's simple.

If the ball is passed forward by a player

And the ball is received by a player of the same team

And the player who received the ball was in the opponents half when the
ball
was passed

And there were less than two opposition players closer to the opposition
goal when the ball was passed

And the pass was not a goal kick or a throw in

Then the player who received the ball is offside and an indirect (if it
goes
directly in a goal it does not count as a gaol, but rather a goal kick
or
corner) free kick - to be taken from the position where the player who
was
caught offside was when the ball was passed forward - is awarded.

Simple.
