[BNM] Free sound edit app for Mac OS X?

Hiya

My girlfriend is looking for a freeware Mac OS X sound editor to do fairly
basic sound recording and mixing stuff.

Any suggestions?

Pro Tools, the app she used to use, seems to be only free for Mac OS 8/9
users now.
