Ok. Fair enough. Frankly I'm reading that as you can borrow stuff, ask
for help, and take any stuff we throw out, but get a bit shirty when we
ask for help or we ask to borrow stuff.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help & borrowing stuff, as long
as you put some effort into yourself, rather then pass it on & see what
comes back.
