Mainly just holiday snaps, really. I'd like a semi decent macro facility, and for the camera to be fairly robust (or rather, not too fragile). I also want it to take AA batteries (have rechargeables at home), and take SD memory card. Needs to fit in trousers pocket fairly comfortably, so not too bulky. Guess I'll need to actually see the things before I can really make a judgement there.
And that's about it. Doesn't need to be super high mega-pixels.
The Nikon Coolpix L4 is looking good at the moment, mainly because of the price (£85 from Ebuyer) and the fact that it does macro to 4cm. The L3 and L2, while they have higher mega-pixels, only do to 10 cm. But I doubt that I'll use the macro enough to warrant basing my choice on that alone...
It's also a Nikon, which makes me feel that the build quality should be reasonable even though it's a budget camera. The L3 and L2, while they have higher mega-pixels, only do to 10 cm.
Considering it's mainly just going to be a holiday snaps camera, I'm thinking that it'll do just fine and will save me a few quid.
