Hello all

SCIP has been working with residents in Poets Corner, Hove, to help
them publish information online, working with Brighton University to
research the impact this has on networks with the community.

This Saturday is Poets Corner Fun Day, a community festival held in
Stoneham Park, in the heart of Poets Corner off Portland Road. It's a
great chance to make contact with peoiple and see what they want to
do, and we're looking for volunteers to come along and help on our
stall and join in the fun.

We'll be doing lots of showing and helping, so that people can start
to understand what's possible and begin to use a website that local
people have been helping to build, including:
- watching podcasts, online and on video iPods
- using video from mobile phones to upload to a website
- taking digital photos and using digital video
- getting feedback on what people think of emerging social software
sites like myspace, frappr, flickr etc
- helping people understand what they can do to add their thoughts
and views to a community web site

The site itself is growing now at: http://poetscornercommunity.net.
Beyond the Fun Day there will also be ongoing workshops so that
people can learn more and become regular contributors to the site.

We're looking for anyone who's interested in coming along for an hour
or so to help out on the stall, showing people how the various
gadgets work, guiding people around various websites, taking
photographs and video of the day, etc.

You don't need any particular skills because we can show you what to
do, but it would be good to know what time you can come and whether
you have particular interests or skills.

Please reply to me off list

Thanks

Mark
