Folks,

We moved house, and shifted boxes of father-in-law's slides, and
mother-in-law's cine film, and some of our VHS, and album after album
of dead-tree photographs. I'm not doing that again, so am after advice
on the following:

1) converting slides/transparancies to digital.
+ Is it cost-effective to get a company to do it? prices?
+ Any reccomendations?
+ or get a dedicated slide-scanner (or an add-o to a flatbed scanner) and DIY
+ any hardware to recommend or avoid?

2) converting cine( poss super8 or some such) to digital
+ any recommendation of a company to do it? How much?
(I assume it's too much hassle to DIY)

3) conerting VHS to digital
+ likewise, assuming it's too much hassle to DIY, andy recommendations

4) scanning in prints (or poss negatives)
+ Is it cost-effective to get a company to do it? Cost?
+ Any reccomendations?
+ or get a some sort of sheet-feeder/flatbed scanner device
+ any hardware to recommend or avoid?

Once that's all done. I just need to get the off-site backup regime in
place, and we're set for the next year or two :-)

TIA
