Nick,
Sounds like Gmail will do everything you need.
Each contact has a "notes" area already set up for adding details about each
contact. If you want to store passwords or notes separately from a contact
just email it to yourself and apply a label. Or if you are using Gmail just
use their docs/spreadsheet software and store each set of notes as a new
document that you can tag to your heart's desire.
