[BNM] ie7 and clearing

Hi all,
Due to RSI I've been away for a while so forgive me if this has already been covered. I have searched high and low (including the archive) for a valid way of clearing floats without structural markup that works in IE7 AND IE5.5 (win). Does anyone know of one? The malarky page on it thoroughly confused me and the PIE inline block way isn't valid CSS. Help please!
