[BNM] Web based browser?

Larry Ellison, Oracle, was promoting this idea of a "Network Computer" back in 1996/97. I even wrote my final year disseration on it (http://www.moleville.co.uk/dissertation.html). It seemed uncerain it would work at the time, the Internet was still via dial up and the usage of Java at that time would seem uncertain as it was such a new language.
I think now however, we are now getting the software in place (looking at the services that Google offer), all we need is the hardware. Such a thin client, a Network Computer could possibly have a bit more of an impact this time round? That way, log on to any Network Computer all all your settings and, in this case, your browser and its plugins etc... are all there, your history and indeed the last page you were looking at come up on the screen just as you left it.
Takes you back to using X Terminals.....
