[BNM] [OT] just the facts

arguably the 'news' only contains 'emotive' subjects because that is the
way it is portrayed by the various [politicised] sources of it. i remember
john simpson on radio 4 once bemoaning the fact that 'even' the bbc these
days couldn't broadcast from a war zone without the inevitable 'teddy
bear' shot a la 'drop the dead donkey'. 'news' he said 'is JUST about
what, not why or how. at least that's the way it used to be and should
be'.

people die, which is emotive and is also just a plain fact. today [for
example] X many people will die in lebanon of which Y% will be as a result
of israeli attacks. i feel that it should be up to me to decide/feel my
response to this, not up to the media to decide for me and to spoonfeed me
their [politicised, wonky] version.

which is the reason i no longer proactively absorb the news in any form.
but i would like to, if only i could get it in 'pure' form.
