+1 for Planet India.

It's great ! Really cheap but really tasty stuff. Follow Ian's advice on
the Bhel Puri and I also recommend the Peas & Paneer.

Hi,

Planet India, top of Preston Street. Not quite in BN1, true, and not
quite your standard curry restaurant either...but it's completely
fantastic. Proper home-cooked vegetarian food, slightly shambolic but
very friendly atmosphere, reggae, entertaining selection of booze,
silly prices.  Start with the bhel puri and you'll be blown away;
carry on with the two-curries-and-rice-for-about-a-fiver and you'll be
very happily stuffed. On recent evidence, word is starting to get
around, so it's probably worth booking a table - 275717.

If you want something a bit more familiar, the Chilka House on Baker
Street is very good: www.chilkahouse.co.uk.

Cheers,

ig.
