[BNM] VAT Registered?

Guys,

My accountant had recommended that I should become VAT registered, but this
means having to add VAT to my estimates and invoices. He reckons that
providing, the companies I work for are also VAT registered that it makes no
difference as they just claim the VAT back.

I was just wondering how many of the other freelance
designers/developers/programmers are VAT registered, and if it has any
impact on getting work/billing etc...

...because obviously, your estimate is going to be that much higher than the
guy who isn't!?

Or does it really make no difference?
