It always makes me roll my eyes when I hear someone saying something
to that effect. From my experience, most chavs (or 'townies' as we
used to know them east-of-the-city) are 'middle-classed' and have far
more expensive clothes, jewellery, mobile phones etc. than me. I've
always seen is as more of a behavioural thing than an appearance
thing.
