[BNM] [OT]No doubt this will stir some people up...

Finally I've got enough time to stick my 2p in...
Interesting comments on this one since it hit the Argus. I reckon the
money could be better spent, but that's always the case. Does Brighton
*need* this thing? Of course not. It doesn't need it. But needing it
isn't really the issue. The issue is whether it would be of any benefit
to Brighton as a city, which in some ways it would (more visitors
bringing more money into the city (like Brighton needs any more
visitors...) etc). Stuff like this always get people riled, which is
understandable especially if it's gonna be ruining your lovely sea view.
Ultimately I'd rather see a new, modern pier built as someone has
already mentioned but I would guess that that would cost a hell of a lot
more than the spike to build. Plus they could build the new pier to
accommodate the starlings, which happen to be one of my favourite things
about Brighton. So if there's talk of an anti-starling gun, I'll be
seeing to it that the starlings themselves are suitably armed, probably
with a Starling Gun (similar to a Gatling but obviously much smaller.
Just as effective though)

I think what the council should do in the meantime is put one of those
four-gun machine-gun-turrets like they had on the back of Lancaster
Bombers on it - keep all those pesky starlings off etc.
It would create jobs as well. Well... a job. It would be a good job
though.
So that's my thought for the day.
