Really? My laptop is only a slightly higher spec than that and it runs like lightning... I attribute a lot of that to not running windows or any of its variants on it, but even when I did run windows on it, and on one a lot slower it was more than powerful enough to do anything I wanted... have you tried reformatting it? Running Sandra and looking for bottlenecks? Or even running linux on it, using something like rythmbox or amaroK to play mp3s etc... it shouldn't be struggling!
