I currently use an old PIII 933 with 384MB of RAM as my Itunes machine and
as a SSH gateway. It struggles doing anything more than opening a few
windows and playing some songs.
I would like to be able to use it as a 2nd machine but i think it's way
beyond upgrading. So my question is - if I want to buy an almost bare bones
PC - where is the cheapest place?
I don't need a screen or a DVD burner or keyboard and mouse. It doesn't need
a massive hard drive as I use external drives and I already have PCI cards
for USB2 and Firewire. All I need is a case with a mobo and processor - some
RAM - and a 40GB hard drive. Nothing fancy at all. (and I don't want to
have to put the case - mobo - pocessor etc in myself, I want to buy it all
readt to transplant my drives etc to.)
Looking on Ebay and various "build your own PC" places all I seem to be able
to find is either complete systems which I don't want - or older machines
not much better spec'd than mine.
I can buy a low spec new PC for about £160 but I was hoping to spend less
than about £100 if I could.
Any ideas?
